Track & Feild - Regional Track Meet - Tuesday, May 7th @ NDSS
Our Intermediate students are participating in one or two afternoons per week to experience Track & Feild. It is meant to be part of their PE program as well as to help coaches select those student who will represent Gibson at the Regional Track meet at NDSS on May 7th. Selected students for this event will be bringing home a Track Meet notice/permission form this Thursday that must be returned to the school by Friday, May 3, 2013. All the info you need to know about the Regional Track Meet will be on this notice!
Ms. Ackerman is off to Africa to Climb Kilimanjaro for BC Children's Hospital in October 2013 - Kick-off Fundrasing Assembly Thursday, May 2 @ 11:00 am
Ms. Ackerman will be leading by example with the support of the Delta School District and Gibson staff and students to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341 ft) next Fall in memory of two students - Sam Mantyka and Zubeya Syeda. Through the non-profit organization, Summits of Hope, she will be fundraising, with the efforts of our students at Gibson, to generate funds for the cancer ward at BC Children's Hospital. Her fundraising efforts start this month with our Grade 7 WE Day student leaders helping out. 100% of all monies will go directly to supporting the cancer ward at BC Children's Hospital. Her goal is to raise $10,000.00 from now until she sets foot next October on her journey in addition to leaving a legacy fro Sam and Zubeya!
This Thursday, May 2nd, at 11:00 am, we are hosting a SEL (Social Emotional Learning) assembly where we will be kick starting Ms. Ackerman's fundraiser...."4 Ways to Torture Mr. Zerbe"...stay tuned for details...and save your Loonies!

You can donate directly to BC Children's Hospital on-line OR drop by and visit Ms. Ackerman to make an individual donation. Donations over $40 will get a charitable receipt as well as a Flag of Hope to write a message on that Ms. Ackerman will take to the top of Kilimanjaro, take a photograph of your flag, and return it to your family.
May PAC Meeting - Wednesday, May 22nd @ 7:00 pm in library
Our PAC is holding their May PAC meeting on Wedmesday, May 22nd @ 7:00 pm to cover two major topics: PAC elections AND reviewing the School Wish List with a presentation from staff. Babysitting is provided and any Gibson parent is welcome to attend. If you want to be part of the PAC nominations and election process, you must attend in person for this meeting.

We feel very strongly about taking a stance to bullying and building in understanding, empathy, and tolerance with our students. Please report any incidence to an adult, a teacher or to the administration. Please view Gibson's Code of Conduct. Please view the Delta School District's " Understanding Bullying & Intervention Plan." Please view the Delta School District's 4 step Safety Plan: "Everyone has the right to feel safe at school."
