Social Responsibility Programs at Gibson:

School cultures are shaped by the values and attitudes of the people they involve: school staff, students, parents, and the wider community. At Gibson we use, common school-wide efforts to build a learning community that is respectful, welcoming and nurturing.

Roots of Empathy (ROE)

The Roots of Empathy program is currently in place for Kindergarten students at Gibson Elementary. Roots of Empathy, a research-based program, has shown that children experiencing ROE have dramatically reduced levels of aggression and increased levels of social and emotional literacy. It is designed to create caring, peaceful, and civil societies through the development of empathy in children. It helps children identify and reflect on their own thoughts and feelings and those of others.

WITS -

Using Your Wits at School/Home The WITS Program acronym stands for "Walk away", "Ignore", "Talk it out", and "Seek help." It is used at Gibson to help students learn the skills that they need to handle conflicts with others.
