The Grizzly Gazette June 23 – 26

Dear Gibson Families,

As we wrap up the final Grizzly Gazette of the year, we want to take a moment to thank you.

Your support, feedback, and continued efforts have helped our community grow stronger every step of the way. Whether it was showing up for events, sharing ideas, or simply cheering us on from home, it all made a difference.

A huge thank you to all our amazing parent volunteers and our PAC. Your time, energy, and creativity brought so much life to our school this year. We couldn’t have done it without you.

And to every parent and caregiver, thank you for the hard work you do with your kids and for being such great partners with our teachers. That teamwork is what makes Gibson such a special place.

Wishing you all a restful and joyful summer ahead.

With gratitude,

Emergency Preparedness Fee

Last year, the school district introduced an annual $10 Emergency Preparedness Fee to help ensure every school is equipped with essential emergency supplies – such as food, water, and first aid items – in the event of a major incident like an earthquake (see letter from May 2024). As of mid-June, we have collected more than $125,000, which is already being used to ensure each school is stocked with emergency food and water reserves.

Our ultimate goal is to maintain at least a three-day supply of food and water for every student. This annual fee, due at the beginning of each school year, plays a vital role in helping us meet that goal and allows us to replace supplies as they expire. In September, you’ll receive more details on how to pay this fee for the 2025/2026 school year. If your family requires financial support in relation to this fee, please contact the school office. Discretion will be maintained.

Assembly Reminder – Celebrating Our Grade 7s

Just a quick reminder that our year-end assembly will take place on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at Delview. This special event will focus on celebrating our Grade 7 students as they get ready to move on to high school. Our Kindergarten students will also have a small part in the program.

Families are welcome to attend. However, please note that priority seating will be given to the families of our Grade 7s and Kindergartens, as this event holds special significance for them.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Reminder – K–6 Awards Assembly

We’re looking forward to celebrating our students at the K–6 Awards Assembly on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Gibson school gym. This event will recognize the achievements of our Kindergarten to Grade 6 students, and we’ll also be sharing a short slideshow to highlight some memorable moments from the year.

Families are welcome to attend, but please note that seating is very limited. We appreciate your understanding as we do our best to accommodate everyone.

Reminder – Last Day of School

Just a quick reminder that Thursday is the last day of school for students, and dismissal will be at 10:20 AM.

Please make note of the early dismissal time and ensure that appropriate pick-up arrangements are in place for your child.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We wish you and your family a safe and relaxing summer!
