We are excited to announce that our school will be celebrating Bike to School Week from June 3-7 this year! During this special week, we are encouraging students and families to use active transportation for their trips to school. This includes walking, biking, scootering, skateboarding, and using mobility aids. Not only do these activities help reduce congestion in our school neighborhood, but they also help students arrive at school energized and ready to learn.

To support our students, we will have a Walking School Bus that meets at Delview Park every day at 8:20 AM. This is a great opportunity for students to walk to school safely in a group while enjoying the fresh air and some physical activity.

We look forward to seeing our school community come together to promote healthy and active lifestyles during Bike to School Week. Thank you for your support and participation!

Traffic Safety

A reminder of an important safety matter regarding our school parking lot and roundabout area.

As I mentioned last week, It has come to our attention that an increasing number of parents are entering the school parking lot and roundabout during drop-off and pick-up times. This practice significantly increases congestion and poses safety risks for our students.

To ensure the safety of all our children and to facilitate smoother traffic flow, we parents to quickly refrain from entering the school parking lot and roundabout. Instead, we encourage you to park on the side streets surrounding the school and walk your children to and from the school premises.

Here are a few key points to consider:

  1. Student Safety: The safety of our students is our top priority. The parking lot and roundabout are high-traffic areas, and reducing the number of vehicles in these zones minimizes the risk of accidents.
  2. Traffic Congestion: The increased volume of cars in the parking lot and roundabout creates significant traffic congestion, leading to delays and frustration for everyone. Parking on the side streets helps alleviate this congestion and ensures a smoother flow of traffic.
  3. Community Responsibility: By parking on the side streets, we set a positive example for our children and show respect for our school community. It demonstrates our collective commitment to making the school environment safer for everyone.

We understand that this may require a few extra minutes of your time, but the safety and well-being of our students are well worth the effort.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Let’s work together to keep our school a safe and welcoming place for all.
