Dear Parents and Families,

We are excited for our upcoming Sports Day on June 2. Your child should know their colour groups by now. If they don’t, please contact your child’s teacher. Parents are welcome to join us for Sports Day!

WHEELS PARADE

Students are encouraged to decorate their bike, wagon, scooter etc for the wheels parade. Students can bring their decorated wheels to the gym starting at 8:30 on June 2. Remember that HELMETS ARE MANDATORY in order to participate!

SPORTS DAY SCHEDULE 

8:30-8:45                  Bikes and Wheels storage in the gym

9:20 – 9:40                Wheels Parade

9:50 – 12:30              Sports Day Stations

12:30-1:30                 Lunch

1:30-2:00                   Pre School, and primary races

2:00-2:40                   Tug of War – Grade 4-6, Staff vs. Grade 7s

2:40-2:50                   Grade 7 Balloon Toss

3:00                            Dismissal

 

 

PAC MEETING MAY 29 at 6:30 in the Library

A reminder that elections for PAC Executive positions will take place at the AGM Monday, May 29th, 2023, at 6:30 pm in the school library. All parents and guardians of students registered in Gibson Elementary are members of the council and eligible to run. We hope to see you at the meeting.

The election will take place for the following positions:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

All nominations should be submitted to the Chair of the Nominations Committee Lakhvir Brar at Gibsonpacnominations@gmail.comThe following information is required for nominations: First & last name, that you are eligible & willing to stand for the position.

A parent who accepts a position as a Council Executive Member must agree to abide by the code of ethics. See below: 

 

1. upholds the constitution and bylaws, policies, and procedures of the electing body (see the school website page 10)

2. performs his or her duties with honesty and integrity and in the interests of the Council (specific duties are in the bylaws and constitution on the school website page 17 )

3. works to ensure that the well-being of students is the primary focus of all decisions

4. respects the rights of all individuals

5. takes direction from the membership and executive

6. encourages and supports parents and students with individual concerns to act on their own behalf, and provides information on the process for taking concerns forward

7. works to ensure that issues are resolved through due process

8. strives to be informed and only passes on information that is reliable

9. respects all confidential information
